SWAY is a collection of works that respond to the continuum of change and movements with self and the landscape.
Paintings have been created within the landscape, sitting beside waterways and completed in the studio with layers of watercolour, charcoal and gouche. They show the artists’ postcolonial response to painting contested landscapes, a country that has not been ceded without treaties been established with the First Peoples of this country. The landscape is moving between realistic and abstract treatments with the horizon line shifting. Multiple perspectives and images can be found within the intuitive led compositions. SWAY is artist, Rebekah Evans, first solo exhibition showing at Woolloongabba Art Gallery, February 14-18th 2023.
Medium of artworks are watercolour, charcoal and gouche on paper, mounted on bookbinding board, floating on a timber frame.
